Nebula Dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula Dragons will be exactly the same.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Although she tends to be sardonic occasionally, Starry is stout-hearted and supportive.  The sturdy nebula is ChibiPaw's right-hand dragon, always by her side.  She gives advice and makes sarcastic comments a good deal of the time, making her seem sadistic; but she's just trying to be a realist.  Starry is also a quite stubborn, but she is an excellent friend and a powerful ally.  Being one of the clan's oldest, she shares the highest ranking with Mustang, the Monarch Horse.  Starry also seems to have a passion for drumming.  She decided that once a month, the clan should have a music night.  So every so often nearly every dragon in the Gillian clan will group together, take an instrument, and make music.  Starstruck always drums, and quite well too.
