Pitfire Dragons are an infernal breed, reveling in the suffering and misery of others. These dragons are not known to be strong magic users, nor are they capable of flight. However, these weaknesses are made up for in the extent of their physical prowess. They have little respect for most other creatures, including members of their own family group; however, those that have fought or fallen in battle against formidable foes are highly revered. They are constantly on the move, always on the hunt for food or a skirmish. The malevolent nature of Pitfires is feared by many, and the damage they leave in their wake is a sure sign for those to be wary. Pitfire activity has been noted to increase as the weather grows colder and the nights grow longer.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Skutt 1220 is a plumber: he single-handedly fights his way through armies in order to rescue kidnapped princesses for a living. This job pays well, and the treasure he earns serves two important purposes: to attract adventurers to fight, and to pay for his other important hobby, ceramics. As a wyrmling, he was talked into submitting a piece for a contest, and he didn't win. The judge was clearly wrong, because pitfires always win, but she had wings, and at the time, Skutt didn't, so he couldn't prove to her how he deserved to win. Ever since, he has been trying to make the perfect ceramic sculpture to prove to everyone that he is in fact the best ceramic artist of all time ever. His only complaint about his lifestyle is that he gets a lot of people coming in to ask him about fixing sinks or unclogging toilets for some reason. Plumbers like him don't work with pipes, and he has taken to using senseless violence against anyone who mistakenly thinks otherwise.
