Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

Gould has always been loved since his arrival as an egg. All the other hatchlings climbed over each other to be by his side, constantly complimenting his shimmering scales. Initially he loved the attention, finding his popularity to be fun and believing all of these dragons to be his friends.

But as he grew older, he grew more observant. Sometimes he saw his 'friends' frown as they stared at his scales, jealousy in their eyes. When he tried to have conversations with them, they didn't really care what he was talking about, and fell back to talking about his golden coloring. They didn't want to play, they just wanted to look, entranced by his shiny scales and wanting to call him theirs. He was a trophy. A thing of beauty to be observed, but little more.

This trend continued into adulthood where he found no shortage of females craving his attention. Males wanted to fly with him simply because they knew he would attract the females. The only one who was different...was Distill.
