Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon’s mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Alanzore is a Striped dragon. Extremely lazy, this dragon terrified his family after his egg refused to hatch until long after its due date. The hatchling alarmed everyone as well, as he did not bother to climb out of the remains of his eggshell and remained where he was until the other dragons and the owner pulled him out and found, to their relief, that he was not dead. Alanzore spends most of his days sitting in the sun outside his cave waiting for insects to come to him, attracted by his bright colors. Unlike Whittany, the other Striped, he shows no inclination towards even wanting to do anything else, making it clear that eating and sleeping are the only things he has any interest in. Unfortunately, this has also made him the butt of a lot of pranks by the resident tricksters in the cave.
