Ice Dragons are fierce predators who hunt using their extremely cold breath. The breath of an ice dragon can freeze its prey solid in seconds. The body of an ice dragon is so cold that icicles will form along its skin no matter the outside temperature.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

There is one particular mountain in the Scottish Highlands on which the wintry blanket of snow seems unwilling to melt. It resists the first warm rays of sunshine till the end of spring, because  the caves within are inhabited by a frosty group of Ice and Winter dragons.

Winter is the season Bioran Deighe was born in, and ice is her element. The ground freezes under her claws, trees wither and shrink from the cold surrounding her as she walks by. Her icy breath is useful when hunting, but not only prey feel its coldness; it is also an excellent weapon in combat, forcing the opponent to flee from the biting cold. Not all dragons receive such a frosty welcome though. Although 'having warm feelings' is an odd thing to say of an Ice dragon, Bioran loves her partner Sgian Deigh deeply. Winterborn also, he matches her perfectly in character and interests. Bioran hopes her offspring will stay true to their element, and only choose mates from Ice and Winter lineage.
