Red Dragons are similar to typical story book dragons. They shoot flames, can fly, etc. However, they aren’t evil creatures as depicted in myths and won’t go around raiding castles, killing knights, or kidnapping princesses. They live in a variety of habitats, from forests to coastlines to abandoned castles, usually in warm climates, and eat whatever living creatures they can find.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Malacoda grew up orphaned in a land where survival was rough, and dragons fought amongst themselves. Any he cared about, or who tried to help him, either died, stabbed him in the back, or used him for their own purposes. In that place, in a mockery of justice, the most brutal and cruel were those that were the most successful, that had the most power, the most "respect." Eventually he was able to escape that place, and wound up on a remote island, where he attempted to use the same tactics that had gotten dragons power in his former home. Unfortunately for him, brutality was now completely intolerable. He barely managed to escape with his life and fled to the island's mountains. Now, his only company are his mate, the kind and caring Evaheart, and his servant, the mischievous but harmless LittleEvil.
