Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s very playful and likes to be around other dragons.

And look! It has grown wings, and its throat has turned red with small speckles on it. It must be close to maturing!

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Baby Speckles is one of the many hatchlings with stunted growth in EG's Cave. Unlike the others, however, Baby Speckles has dedicated his life to finding out the source of his trouble. EG avoids being confronted by this devious hatchling because he has latched on to the truth of the matter. He believes that it is actually EG that casts secret spells on the hatchlings like himself to keep them from growing for her own evil needs. As a result, Baby Speckles holds rallies to raise awareness, unaware that many of the dragons have already figured out the truth and simply do not mind. Day in and day out, he tails EG trying to pry information out of her. EG worries that this behavior will never end and regrets casting the spell on the hatchling in the first place.
