Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Yayauhqui Yphah is normally referred to as Yip because none of the clan's other dragons nor KooshyKoKo can pronounce his name. Once, many seasons ago this little hatchling encountered a traveling mage in the forest near the clan's cave. The two met, talked and became good friends. The mage, being a polite fellow asked for Yip's name. As the mage attempted to say it, he failed horribly, the result of Yip's botched full name was a spell that froze Yayauhqui Yphah as a hatchling forever. Yip didn't mind though, he never even considered starting a lineage with a name like his. He enjoys spending his time with the frozen water hatchling Misted Mornings and the mage when he occasionally stops by for a visit.
