Balloon Dragons are so named because they are filled with a gas that makes them almost lighter than air, similar to balloons. However, they are not prone to bursting, as they are covered in tough skin and can deflate themselves if necessary. In addition, they generally are slow moving. They use their gas bladders to float to the tops of trees, where food is more abundant. They can shift their weight from their backs to their fronts, allowing them to reach leaves and fruit.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Cherry Chocolate Aroma is a balloon dragon. She is quite unusual, and her scales are tinted a slight shade of deep, rose red. Although, like all balloon dragons, most of her body is filled with air, she posses a sort of aroma that smells faintly of cherries and chocolate. Even though she doesn't really know how he happened to possess the sweet smell that is her trademark, she suspects it came from the fact that she is the ancestor of two heartseeker dragons. Like her ancestors, the aroma she breathes into the air becomes stronger during the middle of February, and she can even be seen laying "scent trails" around her clan's territory to lead potential mates to each other, despite the fact that the behavior is normally usually seen only in heartseekers. However, she doesn't play matchmaker that much, and prefers to chat with friends, since she is very popular due to her sweet aroma and mellow personality.
