Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It is rather pale in color and likes to sleep while balancing on one leg.

And look! It has grown wings and a large head crest! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

A student at Ms Russo's school for water-affine hatchlings, Shrimpeater is the odd one out among his classmates. He is not particularly fond of flying, swimming, or wading. In fact he is not interested at all in any kind of physical game or sport. Shrimpeater likes to snack on the most tasty crustacean but everything else is a bit boring to him. He is a bit pudgy and slow as a result and the other hatchlings make fun of him. He tries not to let it get to him, but it does make him sad. And when he's sad he eats to feel better. His only joy (excepts for tasty snacks) are Beverage and Jewel, the two class mascots don't really care how he looks and as long as he shares his snacks with them they love to play with him.
