Hellhorse Dragons are foul-tempered, spirited creatures with tempestuous and violent dispositions. Torrents of scorching flames erupt from their bodies and can easily set their surroundings ablaze. Highly aggressive and territorial toward other dragon species, Hellhorses will tolerate others as long as they believe the association to be beneficial. Such alliances are tenuous in nature and frequently short-lived, as the slightest disagreement can easily escalate into a full-out brawl.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

I'll Rip Your Guts Out is one of Phoenix's dragons. The daughter of Untamed Mare and There are No Heroes -- a match that has horrified even the most stoic of her clanmates in that it appears to be lasting longer than anticipated -- she is true to her breed in that she is one of the most foul-tempered in the entire clan, picking fights with every dragon that will even so much as give an irritated look back. She has no qualms about biting, kicking, or otherwise physically harming others for no discernible reason.

Guts has often stated that she has a mind to leave the clan, and while most dragons couldn't care less if she did (even Phoenix has not protested too fervently against this idea), so far the threat has proven to be idle; despite Guts's constant belittling and complaining about the perceived inadequacy of her fellow clanmates, she still remains, even tagging along on hunting or scouting trips with dragons she has clearly stated she can't stand.
