Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon... except for the tangle of dangerous-looking vines surrounding it...

Now there are even more vines. Perhaps something is happening?

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Tentacula is an incredibly devious little female, always attempting to trip or hurt Ran and the dragons, cackling shrilly when she succeeds before burrowing quickly out of sight.  She is the main cause of disquiet amongst the cave's mother dragons, as she actively attempts to hunt the hatchlings with the intent of eliminating them.  Her mother is blissfully unaware of the behaviour, as little Tentacula always acts sickeningly sweet and innocent around her; she scorns her Black father, however, and shrilly claims that he is a liar every time he attempts to control her horrid behaviour.  However, she has been banished by Winged Nimbus -- not only the Alpha female and a frequent mother, but Tentacula's grandmother to boot -- to live outside the cave with Oakenheim, her Vine grandfather, and is forced to survive catching rodents and insects for food.
