Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

Several of the big cats in the Nworset zoo are rescue animals, and their unpredictable behaviour around dragons made them difficult to care for. Enter Rind the Gap: as a cheese, she does not smell like dragon, and therefore does not remind them of their former environment. Rind the Gap may be a soft cheese, and a mild one at that, but her charges have never felt the need to test the toughness of her rind. If anything, they find her reassuring. She certainly loves hanging out in or near their naturally-landscaped enclosures, to the point where visitors have been known to remark, "lions and tigers and camembert, oh my!"
