Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Shadow King, the leader of all the black dragons in the cave, is very much like most fairy tale heroes; brave, noble, and thoughtful. Though he commands the other black dragons, he is very open to suggestions and requests, and will always try to to make life better for them. The only dragon he does not get along with is Earthquake Lord. Earthquake Lord, as the leader of the green dragons, is very different from Shadow King. Earthquake Lord thinks Shadow King is too serious, and Shadow King thinks Earthquake Lord is too immature. This will sometimes lead to fights between the two, but lucky Shadowan can usually break up the fight before it gets violent.
