Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Despite Yazbaii having an older brother and sister, she is the most mature out of the three of them. While her brother is extremely over-protective of his sisters, he is quite shy and somewhat unable to defend himself. Malyah acts very childish and immature. Yazbaii thinks herself as the "oldest" of Bayah's children since she feels that she is the most responsible and mature out of the three. Therefore, she is a little on the bossy side when dealing with her siblings. With her friends, she is the one that starts activities and rarely follows anyone else's ideas. One of her closest friends is actually Myloz II, a hatchling her brother hates.
