When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Rippling Waters is typically seen as a milder version of her mate. She often lurks just beneath the surface, quietly watching over the clan and her young one. She's rarely far from her mate or their young and proves to be just as fierce as he when protecting their home and loved ones. She is one to lurk, however, silently observing the world overhead, careful that she remain unnoticed. While he has never understood her insistence in this matter he does respect it. On some nights, when she thinks all others are resting or away, she'll surface and travel in the open with him, above the waves. This only happens on the darkest of nights, however, and always brings about the old conversation on why she insists on hiding her beauty from the world above.
