Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Sylph is not your typical Christmas dragon. Oh, she believes in spreading cheer and all that, but secretly she is also quite vain. As a first-generation descendant of a silver Shimmer-scale dragon, she places a high value on heritage in her personal relationships. All of her friends are from "good backgrounds" which she deems equal to hers, and she has yet to find a mate whose breeding she deems equal to her own and thus "fit" to sire her children. Such snobbery is surprising in a dragon whose breed traditionally emphasizes hope and cheer, but Sylph never speaks of it. Her prejudice is only visible in her actions, which are for the most part subtle and easily hidden unless one looks very closely.
