Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It likes to perch on the high branches of the taller trees and look longingly up at the sky.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Ru-fi-ooooo's real name is Squire Rufio the Canopy, but for some reason he prefers not to go by this. Rather, he insists that every dragon he meets shout his name in an obnoxious and exaggerated manner, which almost always comes out sounding like Ru-fi-ooooo. He leads a small band of frozen hatchlings which call themselves the Lost Hatchlings. They're a band of misfits and trouble-makers who enjoy defacing public places and hiding out in their treehouse. They claim that they don't need to eat, but can rather use their "imagination" to create sustenance. However, they have been caught stealing food from other dragons on more than on occasion. Their arch nemesis is Sir Maurus, whom they call "Captain Hook" because of his abnormally long claws.
