Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Born in a land in which his eternally elusive breed was even more rare than usual, this dragon was once revered as nothing less than a god. Humans and lesser dragons alike took his shining appearance as a sign of good things to come for their dreary desert land, and offered him gold, food, and servants by the barrel in hopes of winning his favor. For many long years Dramidr glutted on this feast, enjoying wealth without work... until one day, after dismissing yet another foreign female from his den, he realized his life was quite empty despite all its glimmer. Abandoning godhood in favor of a simpler life, he moved into the mountains, only to find he had no survival skills to speak of. One night, lost, cold, and starving, he was found by a local Harvest dragon, who took him under her wings and showed him the ways of the land. As the days go by, he's enjoying the simple, honest life more and more, and finding his female companion ever the more attractive!
