This hatchling could hardly be considered cute.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

A cruel reminder that acceptance is not freely given...

Loathsome is a young, quiet, and overall sweet-dispositioned hatchling. And yet few deign him worthy of attention and care, unwilling to waste their time on a monstrosity such as this. Deformed, the dragons whisper out of earshot. Cursed. Polluted. Something wrong. For what sort of hatchling is born with burning crimson eyes and raw muscle where skin should be... The hatchlings scatter and yelp when he approaches them to play, and the nesting mothers clutch their eggs reflexively.

Sweet, gentle, kind—but also loathsome. And to most, where Loathsome is concerned, that's all that matters.
