Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It perfectly depicts winter weather.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Ronald spends most of his time moping around the cave network. When he first hatched, he was very lively, but he became mischevious and started to play tricks on all the dragons he could manage to annoy. He had the misfortune of deciding to hide one of Sacred Wolf's silver eggs in the vampire dragons' caves. They didn't eat the egg, but rather did something far worse—returned the egg and told its parents who hid it. The mother of that egg happened to be the very short-tempered Magi, Midnah, who decided to play a trick of her own. She cast a spell which irreversibly bestowed a truly idiotic name on the poor hatchling, and to this day, nobody takes him seriously.

She also froze him as a hatchling for eternity, but that's not nearly as amusing.
