Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Hitam has long been proud of her limited dorkface heritage, finding little pleasure in talking about how her parentage affects her on a day to day basis. It was in later years that she found the restrictions of this, as she was unable to do naught but what was socially expected, so chose to rebel, becoming unfaithful to her mate and joining a rag tag crowd of misfits. Hitam finds herself constantly having to defend the fact she is inbred, which many disapproving rivals comment upon, saying that as it has no effect on her skills then surely it doesn't matter. Unfortunately, society is prejudiced in a way where she is discriminated against for something beyond her control, so her rejection of the hierarchy for those she connects with is controversial, but in the depths of their hearts many admire her for sticking to her principles. Her morals and willpower are near infamous, and many admire her risky yet right decisions, though they also question the accuracy of her moral compass.
