Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don’t communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

Geode dragons are closely related to Stone dragons. They are covered in a hard stone-like material as well as beautiful crystal. Their wings are entirely useless for flight, but they help attract mates. The dragons with the most brilliant and colorful crystals are more likely to mate.

Saffire Idol and Obsidian Idol are close friends. While neither of them moves much at any given time, they are almost always together. Obsidian Idol helped greatly in the raising of Saffire Idol, which is why it was decided they would share a second name. At times, Obsidian is jealous of the beautiful colors on Saffire, but other times, Saffire seems to be jealous of how well Obsidian can blend into the background and be ignored and left alone. Many enjoy coming to admire the beauty that the Geode Dragon has, but many times she prefers to be left alone.
