Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It enjoys running through a nearby pumpkin patch.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

When best friend and playmate Illik was stolen away, Rifjor knew she had to get her friend back, even though it meant leaving her pumpkin home. The trials she and Caxteno faced would fill a book, but eventually they got Illik back. Though initially timid, Rifjor soon found that her small size didn't keep her from being brave. In the process, Rifjor was enspelled by Marissia to be forever young, but she doesn't mind. That way, she'll never be forced to grow up and leave Illik behind.
