Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

JD's Memorial Dragon was born in an abandoned cave.  Her mother was killed by hunters after she led them away from her small hatchling.  JD's Memorial Dragon was discovered later in the cave; weak and starving.  The man who found her took her in and nourished her back to health.  He gave the small golden dragon to a small child known only as JD.  JD loved the golden dragon hatchling and cared for her.  JD's life ended tragically at a very young age.  JD's Memorial Dragon now sits by her tiny grave and watches over it.  Everyone in the countryside knows the story of JD and her golden dragon; therefore, no one is allowed to touch this beautiful golden dragon.  People from the town bring food to the dragon and leave flowers on JD's grave.  JD's Memorial Dragon is the most beautiful golden dragon ever seen by man.  It is said you can hear JD's Memorial Dragon's shrieks of sadness during the night.
