Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Dream is in a perpetual trance-like state. This is entirely his own fault, as he likes nothing more than using his powers to construct elaborate daydreams inside his own head. These fantasies can go on for days, and have complex plots. He very rarely takes any notice of her surroundings, but has been known to offer comments to conversations going on around him. This leaves the other dragons in the clan of abandoned dragons to wonder how much he actually notices, as many efforts to talk to him outright are either ignored or unheard.

If he had been born as a human he would surely be an author.
