Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

A long time ago, Ferret had beautiful, colorful wings. She would fly around Winter Isle and brag about how gorgeous her wings were. The other dragons were jealous of her feathers and Ferret only angered them with her boasting. One day, the other dragons cornered her and plucked every green and red feather off of her wings. She ran away and hid herself from the world. Surely, her wings could never be as beautiful as they once were. The days pasted and Ferret licked the blood off her wings. She was surprised at what she found underneath, feathers of pure glistening gold! Her wings were just as beautiful as before, if not more so. She flew around the island, bragging about her wings once again. Now, the other dragons are considering ripping all her feathers off.
