Pink Dragons are primarily herbivores and only eat meat during the mating season, when mates will exchange kills. When it is not breeding season, pink dragons spend most of their time incubating eggs and caring for their clan’s young. Due to their feminine color, it was traditionally thought that pink dragons were a strictly female breed, but this is not true.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Roze Minnaar was found with Zwarte Strijder curled about his egg in the cold of the Northern Forest to warm and protect him in the shell. As the two grew up the bond between the fierce female and the flirty male grew stronger and stronger to the amazement of the other adults who expected the unusual relationship to end quickly. And finally, when the two grew up, they made the vows of First Mates.

While Strijder is out questing and warring for the Cave, Minnaar takes his turns caring for the hatchies and eggs of the clans and protecting the home caves from the evils of disorder and lack of good gossip with the rest of the Faye Clan and other homebodies. And yet, he continually looks to the skies seeking the dark shape of his chosen mate and awaiting the moment when she appears and he can greet her as only a pink dragon knows how, with grace and a whole-hearted affection.
