It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Decorus is a very unique dragon. He is one of the little-known male purple dragons, and is studied by his owner in hopes of learning more about his kind. His name means Beautiful Dawn. He is not one of the best fliers, but he is very bulky and strong for a dragon. His favorite game is wrestling with his friends, and he often wins. He can be a little cocky sometimes, but he is truly very wise. He enjoys making his tail, whiskers and hair 'fancy' by curling them around a thin stick. He enjoys great tales of battle and loves going out into the forest and battling fierce beasts as big or bigger then himself. He is also talented at forging, as he has a secret mine in which he digs for iron and precious metals. Dec then forges them into armor and claw gauntlets.
