Guardian Dragons have large shields on the end of their tails. Although the shields appear to be heavy, they are light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian Dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Sonameaith has a zest for life; simply being alive is so much fun to him. Quick-witted and impulsive, Sonameaith often does what he thinks on a whim, whether it is nudging a boulder off a rock with his nose or soaring through a flock of birds just to startle them and watch them flee. He does not think things through all the way and often causes trouble for his escapades.   <br/>Intelligent as well as being a quick-thinker if his energy is focused correctly he could learn just about anything; however it is taking Excelsia  the Elder Healer of their small dragon community  great time and patience to teach Sonameaith to read and even the simplest of songs. He is quite a verbal dragon, utilizing a variety of sounds from warbling to chirping. Sonameaith has the ability to mimic quite a few of the sounds he hears around him and will do so if he amuses him or adds to the increased hilarity of a situation.
