Magi Dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won’t kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ascione is haughty and vain, thinks herself superior in every way, and looks down on most of the females although she dares not challenge Nyth and Daeravhi, the split and vine females, famous for their strength of character. There is very little to go on about exactly what Ascione likes as all she ever seems to do is express her dislike. She dislikes most other dragons with a passion, one of whom is Sehrael, the silver female, because Ascione regards her as a competition for the males' attention. She also cannot stand Ravan, the pebble dragon, whose constant screeching distracts her from thinking straight. She does not like fighting either but when she has no choice, her magical prowess becomes the deciding factor of the outcome of the battle. Ascione has her good points though. Ysera notes that while Ascione loathes actual fighting, she is a brilliant strategist and is the one who plans attack and defense formations.
