Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon... except for the tangle of dangerous-looking vines surrounding it...

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Hidden away in their valley and the caves of the mountains and seas surrounding it, the dragons of the area, while friendly, give their names to no one outside of their own clans. This little dragon will often explain that to visitors though it in no way gives its own name either. It will however tell of vows taken until wrongs are righted and time spent in meditation and contemplation. It will also tell of great loyalty and love amidst the clan and even of dragons of prestigious lineages giving up their names for the sake of everyone until such a time as they may take them up again. Until that time, this hatchling explains, no one outside their own is to know them by name.
