Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling's wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.
Dragons don't communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.
Two-Finned Blunas are a very social breed of dragon, living in packs of dragons called "pods." Blunas are very curious and playful creatures and several dragons in a pod will often "play" with one other, chasing each other around, tossing seaweed back and forth, and riding ocean swells. They are occasionally seen swimming alongside whales and dolphins.
The Deep and the Blue was born in the ocean. He enjoys swimming and racing other two-finned blunas in his pod. He defends the young in his group and likes to nip and play. One day, The Deep and the Blue swam as deep as he could go and discovered a sunken city. He saw people with fish tails swimming everywhere. Feeling curious, he swam to them. They did not seem dangerous so he played with them for a while. After a few hour's time, he went to retrieve the rest of his pod. The mere-people became their friends but since his pod traveled with the ocean current, they went off course occasionally to visit the city of Atlantis.
