Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It hides in dark spaces and lunges at anything that gets too close. Small piles of bones are accumulating outside of its “lairs”...

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

The huge piles of bones around Neekap's cave ensure adventurers look up and into the large, dark crevices that cavern lurkers prefer. Of course, they never expect that the real killer is the small dark lizard they saw disappearing behind a rock or into the plated colossus skull. Neekap usually targets the kneecaps first, ruining the joint and hiding again before the pain reaches his quarry's conscious. Once the creature can no longer escape, he waits for an opportunity to make a clean kill—sometimes, he must wait for them to loose cognition from a loss of blood. The only survivors of his onslaught are those with enough healing magic to restore use of their legs and run away before he can finish them off.

Neekap claims that he killed the plated colossus whose skull is his most prized possession by climbing into its nostril then clawing his way into its brain, but this remains unverified.
