Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

A Cheese dragon, referred to by the other dragons as the one that was eaten by a zombie, is the object of a story told to the hatchlings of its tribe. The tribe has a few little-known members, a small group of Undead dragons "living" near the Vampires. As a hatchling, this particular lump of sentient cheese wandered off one night and found itself in that area. True to its title, it attracted the attention of and was eaten by one of the Undead dragons. The details of what happened afterward are unknown, but a few days later the hatchling reappeared in the tribe's largest cave. To this day, the Cheese dragon is missing part of its tail, but seems to be otherwise unharmed from this experience.
