Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

When Kaeri was young, he observed several graceful dragons in flight. Krescendo and Jeleneb, two night glory drakes, dazzled him.

From then on, he decided he was female, and a night glory, changing his name from 'Kaere' to the more feminine 'Kaeri'. He'll tag along after them, trying to fit in, and wondering why he doesn't. It's like having an annoying younger brother who wants to be just like them. He's cute, but unwanted sometimes.

His wings glow brilliantly, and he has trouble sleeping during the day. Jeleneb and Krescendo try as best they can to ditch him, but just when they think they've lost him, he's back again.
