Stratos Dragons resemble sea dragons, but these massive creatures are far too buoyant to swim in the water. Instead, Stratos Dragons use air mana accumulated in their scales to live high up in the skies from the moment they mature enough to leave the ground, only ever returning to the ground in open spaces or very high elevations to lay their eggs. The underside of a Stratos is covered in reflective scales that slowly shift colors throughout the day to mirror the sky and the clouds above, serving as camouflage. Young Stratos consume anything that will fit in their mouths, and are especially drawn to air mana, but adult Stratos are difficult to observe and not much is known about what they eat or where they continue to gain mana. Corpses of grown Stratos dragons have been found with an incredible amount of crystallized light and air mana embedded in their backs, and it is thought that they fly so high up as they would otherwise be a delicacy to many of the more mana-hungry dragon breeds.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

From the beginning, DisStratos was interested in the world far below. His name came from how, as a wyrmling he had a naturally whiny to his voice that made him seem eternally distraught. One time, not long after he left the family nest to go out on his own, he chanced across a rising waterfall. This was his first experience with water in its liquid form. He didn't know what it was, but a water-walker who came gliding up its surface explained it to him. She was a little older than him, but more importantly she had grown up on the ground and could explain to him all the little tings he saw so far below but was too buoyant to get anywhere near. In turn, he taught her about life up high. They made a home together among the antigravity waters, and what started out as a mutually educational relationship blossomed into much more. As far as Stratos Sphere is concerned he is better off than any of the skywings, aeria glorises, balloons, and even other stratoses that fill the uppermost sky.
