Magi Dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won’t kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Draconic history is full of tales of would-be dark lords and conquerors, and yet few stories mention what happened to these ambitious dragons once they were defeated. Some were killed, yes, but most were wily enough to fake their own deaths. Many of these have wound up in one particular weyr, otherwise unremarkable, where they gather each week to recall past glories and share the mistakes that led to their defeat.

Nycev regrets letting the leader he deposed live. Yes, the dragon was his brother, so there were some familial ties to be considered, and the cell (at the end of a labyrinth of tunnels) should have been impossible to escape, but the end result should have been no surprise to even the youngest hatchling. Nycev, knowing he was lucky to escape relatively unscathed, is one of the few ex-conquerors to be content with retirement. He's young enough and healthy enough to make another go of world domination, but knows his brother would show even less mercy than Nycev did.
