When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Water Gazer, or Gazer for short, is a young Water Dragon who lives with the rest of his clan in their large cave. He tells a lot of bad jokes, and pulls pranks on people and other dragons frequently, especially his best friend Vine Leaper. He doesn't fear people, and isn't shy of them at all. He thinks of himself pretty highly, and often acts like he's "too cool" to do something, which can annoy his friends. He lives in the pool and stream in their cave, which Voltie created for him so he could live inside the cave with the clan. His mate, Summer Waters, is a Magi Dragon. He has a disturbingly intense hatred for Spiritsong Snowflake, whom is married to his daughter, Aolani, and constantly tells him how much he wishes Aolani would've chosen a better mate. This doesn't really bother Spirit, as he is very peaceful and hates fighting.
