Nocturne Dragons are a strange breed. Whenever light strikes their bodies, they are frozen in whatever position they were in. This leaves them vulnerable and they rely on camouflage to keep themselves safe. They are often mistaken for statues when in this frozen state, but Nocturne dragons do not actually turn into stone. Rather, they merely idle until the sun goes down. At night, these dragons come to life, proving themselves to be powerful fliers, although little else is known about their true behavior.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Escape of Stone was once a bubbly little hatchling. She'd get into others' faces and ask questions nonstop, gaining a lot of unwanted attention and insults. As time wore on, the female started to understand what was happening and knew that she had to stop it all before it negatively affected her. She was able to turn her personality around, creating a mask of indifference to use when with dragons she did not like. While many missed that cute little hatchling that wanted to know everything, Escape was happy that she now was cured of being insulted and glared at.

The only friend she stayed with during the personality transition was a Nhiostrife named Deduction of Scientific Awe. He had his own problems and Escape found that she wanted to help him whenever she could. Eventually, the two became mates and Escape of Stone acts as a support pillar for her mate's breakdowns.
