Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It hides in dark spaces and lunges at anything that gets too close. Small piles of bones are accumulating outside of its “lairs”...

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Every year, eight little Halloween hatchlings go trick-or-treating at various human towns and villages. Muvoo is incurably shy, hiding in the shadows while the others get their candy. He usually overcomes his fear at the last possible second and leaps out of hiding, to the dismay of whoever is handing out candy. The first few years Muvoo did this, he almost got squished by falling bowls of candy (the other hatchlings were delighted by the unexpected windfall), but now word has gotten around and the humans are at least somewhat prepared for him. Still, whether Muvoo is a ballerina, a fairy, or a pirate wizard, he can still make even the most jaded human flinch at his sudden appearance.
