And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Gloeckchen is a rather aggressive little hatchling. Her favourite pastime is to take little stones into her mouth and spit them at other hatchlings with great speed and accuracy, often causing serious bruises and even a couple of bleeding scratches. This act is often accompanied by a "blam", "blam", "blam" she manages to produce. Not many of the other hatchlings actually like her. Around the adults she acts all sweet, cute, and innocent, though, and has most of them fooled.
