Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don’t communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

This dragon's famous ancestor, Gold Epica, one of five created by a great magical convocation, was awarded to a great tree decorator, the metal-music loving Lorimmel.  Of the five awarded, only Epica bred true at once, passing her remarkable daughter on to fair-faced Chandler, wealthy in trade.  She in turn bred true at once, and thus did it come to pass that a child of the convocation fell to wandering Lady ArynChris, who for some days had the greatest luck in the world.  For her troubles in the trading market, she passed gold for two rarities, one rarity for two more, those more for yet others, one other for a truly special dragon egg, and that egg came to the attention of fair Chandler herself, who did swear The Golden Twilight's firstborn in trade for it.

At once did the lady exclaim, "Surely, there is no more outrageous fortune in history than that of you, and I, and Lorimmel herself in this!"  And so this dragon was named before her very birth, and breeds good fortune in turn.
