Feisty and energetic, Whiptail Dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

One fateful Halloween night, five dragons were murdered in the forest by someone unknown. All that is known is that they were quite brutally stabbed. Hours later, a wizard happened upon the dragons, and, taking pity on them, cast a revival spell. Two of the dragons disintegrated into ash. Two more were turned into monsters, and legend has it they still roam the graveyard to this day. The last one, Melodana, was successfully revived.

Her family was relieved to see her return, and she quickly became a celebrity of sorts. A dragon returning from the grave was unheard of, and everyone was eager to know just what it was like after death. The only response they got, however, was a vague comment and a blank stare. "It was alright."

Nowadays, Melodana is very sociable, and loves to be with other desert-dwelling dragons. She enjoys basking in the sun and races. Since the incident in the forest, she acts as normal as any other dragon, but one can't help but wonder just what was it she saw.
