Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Other than Robin, Sparrow is very much an irresponsible hatchling through and through. She loves to spend time with other hatchlings and pygmies playing wildly and producing lots of noise. She absolutely abhors the thought of growing up to become one of the clan's warriors, since she has no interest at all in fighting (or responsibility). She shared in Peble's and Vi's secret to stay young forever but a little nagging voice at the back of her mind sometimes asks her if that really was the right decision for her.
