Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Born of the prestigious Penk lineage, Sparkling Silver Sand is a proud dragon and the envy of many. Because of this, he learned to loathe humans that only wanted him for his near royal birth. Because of this, he hides among his clan, only answering to the call of his master, the one human who did not see him as an object for prestige.
