Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has brightly colored fins on its back.

And look! It has grown larger fins! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Beni Kasuri's name means "crimson splash pattern."  It refers to both the color of her dorsal ridges and also her infatuation with dark red colors.  She is in the habit of seeking out, both in the cave and out in the world beyond, red things which she then hoards to herself.  Strangely, she does not hang on to these items for an extended period of time, but rather smashes them on the ground and the walls.  If they cannot be smashed, they are discarded.  There is a particular spot in the cave which is decorated with red splatters as a result of this unique hobby.
