Albino Dragons are so named because their translucent, scale-less skin lacks all pigment. Instead, to help protect their bodies from the sun, they are coated in an oily secretion that blocks the sun’s harmful rays. The call of an albino dragon is similar to a barn owl--a shriek instead of a roar.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ivory is an old dragon. The oldest in his cave, in fact. His hide is marked with the faint signs of an adventurous youth, though he doesn't often speak of it. In a more ambitious dragon, this accident of birth order might have led him to seek out power and influence as the metaphorical grandsire of the entire cave. But that isn't Ivory's way--he's never wanted to be a leader and doesn't think he'd be very good at it. Reclusive by nature, Ivory's most faithful companion is his ever-youthful son Rilfan, though he has long since lost contact with the hatchling's mother. The two are often seen together, deep in conversation. Neither one will explain to an outsider what these long talks are about, but despite the mismatch in their ages they never seem to run out of things to say.
