Silver Dragons are arguably one of the most beautiful types of dragons. They live in high altitude habitats such as mountains. Silver females eat meat only when a male dragon brings it to them as part of courtship, though they are typically highly-independent. They possess an almost magical aura that lights up any place they are in, and are looked upon with awe by humans and animals alike.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Surge came to the clan as a part of a delegation sent by another caretaker to honour the anniversary of the birth of Herk, long lost in the mists of the past. Like the other hatchlings arriving that day she found herself welcomed by the resident dragons and assimilated into the clan.

During her journey Surge had been very nervous and unsure about her new home, afraid she might be enslaved by one of those humans who thought themselves "owners" of "their" dragons or even be imprisoned in some pen. But after arriving at her new home, she quickly learned that she needn't fear any such thing and has since become a relaxed and friendly young dragoness.
