Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s extremely curious and seems to enjoy exploring the area around it.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Scrattle is a huge fan of flying, and prefers it to any other form of travel. She spends most of her time whizzing about the cave complex, often scrabbling her claws against the stone walls to keep from crashing into the ceiling or floor. Her sense of direction is simply dismal, though, and she'll often get lost in the far-back passages, so that the older dragons regularly have to send out search parties to find her.
